Controls
Reasons To Modernize Your Controls
- You are experiencing higher repair costs related to controls
- Inefficient and poor reliability and operation
- Public safety considerations
- Long customer/tenant wait times
- Increased shutdowns and entrapments
- Landing and leveling problems
- Poor ride quality
- Decrease energy costs
Advancement in control technology for elevators began with the introduction of microprocessors and
highly developed motor controls. These applications of technology allow Stanley Elevator Co. to use
intelligent controllers to improve dispatching and traffic handling. A new controller improves rider safety,
reliability and energy efficiency. Also, on board diagnostics provide a map right to a problem that caused a
shut down, minimizing downtime.
A new controller can come with features like programmable building traffic patterns, built in security,
accurate floor leveling and advanced features that will improve elevator performance and the rider experience.
Mechanical Modernizations
Proper mechanical operation is essential for safe operations and for you to fully realize the benefits
associated with any modernization program.
We can carefully assess the condition of your elevators mechanical components by conducting a thorough
field survey. Based on the results of this survey, we will recommend to retain, recondition, or replace
equipment as circumstances warrant.

Jacks/Cylinders
The jack is the central working component of an in-ground hydraulic elevator responsible for raising and
lowering the load. Modernizing your hydraulic jack not only makes your elevator safer for passengers, but
can also reduce environmental impact by protecting the assembly from corrosion and leaks underground.
Some older hydraulic elevators may not have the safety devices and means for environmental protection that
are featured on newer installations. We have created a hydraulic elevator information page that can help you
choose the best way to modernize your equipment. Click the link below to learn more about how we can keep your
hydraulic elevator running safely and efficiently for years to come.
Jack Safety Tutorial
Seventy-five percent of all elevator problems are door related!
If you are considering elevator door equipment is so important in making an elevator system more reliable,
safe, code compliant and perform more efficiently while giving an older elevator door a more marketable
appearance.
There is some difference between hall and cab door equipment. Cab doors operate, at a minimum of twice as
much, than that of hall doors. Elevator doors open and close every time an elevator button is pressed; whether
it is a button in the elevator or in the hall.
Neglecting elevator door equipment could put the riding public in an unsafe condition. Seventy-five percent
of all elevator problems are door related. By just installing a door screen device you could greatly increase
the riding public’s safety and limit the owner’s exposure.
There are many components to an elevator door system. The elevator door system is driven by what is called
a door operator; this is the main component and is located on top of the elevator cab. To learn more about
elevator door systems click the more buttons next to the type of door systems you’re interested in.
There are 2 major types of elevator door systems:
